The Summer of Matthew Williamson

Matthew Williamson’s designer collection for H&M gets even bigger from May 14, to make summer 2009 even more special. Following on from Williamson’s limited fashion range that was launched April 23 in around 200 H&M stores, the respected London designer has created a summer collection that will be available in around 1600 H&M stores worldwide. The collection will be in store longer than any H&M designer collaboration before. Added to this, Williamson has also designed a menswear range for the first time in his career.


“This summer collection really embraces the holiday lifestyle. The silhouette is softened with the addition of long flowing dresses, smocks and kaftans in weightless fabric, and the peacock palette is warmed by accents of red and pink. For the men’s collection, imagine an Englishman who has travelled the world and incorporated the inspirations he has found
into his personal style. I would hope to share a glimpse of the Matthew Williamson world, and to provide the perfect wardrobe options for Summer 2009”, says Matthew Williamson.

Matthew Williamson With A Little Help From His Friends (NYC)

It was all about Matthew Williamson for H&M, celebs, a boat, oh and Grace Jones.

Last night Manhattan was a buzz when Matthew Williamson and his bevy of beauties danced the night away in celebration of his second collection for fashion forward retailer, H&M. The summer collection follows the successful launch of his limited-edition womenswear collection that launched in around 200 H&M stores worldwide on April 23. The premier event was held on The Majesty, a boat that was docked at the South Street Seaport and lit up in pink neon lights. With a performance by the
legendary Grace Jones, music by DJ Michel Gaubert and DJ Hanna Hanra, guests like Lucy Liu, Helena Christensen and Mary Kate Olsen admired the new collection for men and women, available from May 14 in around 1600 H&M
stores worldwide.

Former T4 presenter Alexa Chung is to front her own live daytime show on MTV in the US, which is being billed as the successor to the trail-blazing TRL.

The Alexa Chung Show will be one of the highlights of MTV's new season of programmes, announced as part of the broadcaster's Upfront presentation to advertisers in New York yesterday.

MTV said the new show would be similar to TRL, which was presented live from the channel's Times Square headquarters in New York by Carson Daly and featured a mix of video countdowns and guests. TRL ended its 10-year run in November.

Chung's show will feature partnerships with social networking sites Facebook and Twitter, with audiences encouraged to tweet their reaction to celebrities and music guests while the programme is on air. - Guardian.uk

BEND IT: David Beckham has added designer to his résumé of model, muse and footballer. He collaborated with James Bond, owner of the Undefeated sneaker-freak boutiques, on a fall-winter men’s collection for Adidas Originals by Originals. Designers Jeremy Scott and Kazuki, who created spring collections for the label, have also reenlisted for fall. (Scott’s range includes women’s wear.) Beckham frequents Undefeated in Los Angeles and someone at Adidas, aware of their mutual admiration, proposed they collaborate. Their design approach was to update classic American sportswear with fashionable silhouettes and details. The apparel range features materials such as leather, cashmere and silk, while the footwear builds on iconic Adidas styles. The duo also developed accessories and thermal layering pieces. However, Beckham, who already has an athletic endorsement relationship with Adidas, has no plans to use his image or personal appearances to promote the new line. - WWD
